Wild Biking Scotland is based in Aberfoyle, in the heart of the beautiful and historic Trossachs. The company provides a personal mountain bike guide who will design a session to meet your needs - a gentle wander through lovely forest trails; an adventure on the exciting singletracks on the hills behind the village; a tough workout to test your fitness and bike skills - whatever you want.

If you're visiting the area you are unlikely to know the best trails and this is what Wild Biking provides - a short-cut to a great biking experience plus the support of a qualified mountain bike leader who will also give you skills coaching to help you get the most out of your biking.

The Trossachs has amazing forest, loch and mountain scenery. Sculpture trails in the forest, fairy legends, waterfalls, quiet mossy dells, inspiring open mountain views. Ospreys snatching fish from the loch, red deer keeping a watchful eye from the rocks; water voles hiding in the burns -  this is an adventure!

Make the most of your visit - get out into Scotland's Great Outdoors and get back to nature. Go by bike and you'll understand why Scotland is rated a global superstar for mountain biking.

Wild Biking Scotland

Wild Biking Scotland offers a biking session tailored to the abilities and interests of the customer. Small groups of one to four are preferred so that individual attention and skills coaching can be provided.  Larger groups are also welcome.

The sample below gives a flavour of the range of routes available but remember - your session will be tailored to what you want to do, and we'll organise it wherever you want.

Lochan Spling Sculpture Trail - an easy wander through the forest and a breathtaking and quirky series of sculptures in a natural setting. (2 hrs)

Lochan Drunkie Adventure - quite a workout climbing over the Dukes Pass on National Cycle Route 7, then having a blast down to the lovely Lochan Drunkie, along the shore of Loch Achray then working back up through the forest back to the high point and a zoom down the road back to Aberfoyle. (4 hrs)

Introduction to Singletrack - some rocks and routes and downhill to give you the basic skills to survive the surprises that trails can throw up! (2 hrs)

The Aberfoyle Singletracks - whatever you have the appetite for! Bear in mind these are not groomed trail centre trails, these are natural trails that require an alert mind and a range of bike-handling skills. Mostly red grade with one little tester whose roots and rocks approach  a black grade and also one steep downhill gravelly track that you really don?t want to lock your front wheel on! (2-4 hrs)

Loch Katrine View - A pleasant wander along the banks of Loch Katrine then a wee bit of hard work up the hill and along to gain a fabulous viewpoint looking West along the loch towards Ben Lomond and the Arrochar mountains.  Magical! Followed by, if you want, a swift singletrack descent back to the loch-side. (2 hrs)

The Water of Life Tour - an intriguing trek through the Loch Ard forest to pick up the aqueduct that enables Loch Katrine's soft Highland water to pour out of taps throughout Glasgow. Queen Victoria was impressed and so will you be. Victorian engineering is absolutely impressive - this stuff is still working and we can?t put up buildings that will last 30 years!  (4 hrs)

Glenfinglas Circuit of Meall Cala - not for the faint-hearted! From Brig O'Turk we climb up to Glen Finglas Reservoir. Then we climb, easily at first up Glen Meann then very steeply as we aim for the trail summit at 600m. After that it's a mad swoop back down to the Lochside. (5-7 hrs) If that's not challenging enough we could go up Ben Venue (727m) or even Ben Lomond (974m/3196 feet).

Sessions can be from one hour to a full day, although a minimum of 2 hours is really needed to get the best of experiential learning. Rates are £25 per hour for a group of up to four people. Bikes and helmets are not provided but can be hired locally on a delivery and pick-up basis.  We're there to help you have a brilliant mountain-biking experience so we'll tailor the session to what you want.
