pony trekking

Explore the beautiful Scottish landscape on horse back. Choose from a gentle trek or a more adventurous hack horse riding  - it's a great way to enjoy Scotland?s great outdoors.

Where to go:

With its network of old routes through the glens, Scotland is made for riding and trekking.
Some say that several of Scotland's still-used trekking paths came about many centuries ago, and were originally cattle droving roads. Today, these rough tracks still cross the open moors and high passes so that from the saddle you can glimpse some of Scotland's secret places.

Scotland's other particular claim in the world of horses is that the sport of pony-trekking originated in the Highlands - specifically in the Newtonmore, area as a way of using the strong and sure-footed Highland ponies outside the stalking season. Whichever operator you choose, you can be sure that the view from the saddle will certainly be rewarding.
